2017 WPMA Annual Scientific & Membership Meeting

Please join us in the brand new Titletown District in Green Bay for this once-a-year meeting! This year features a sports medicine theme and these kick-off events include:
 
  • Golf Outing: Join your colleagus and friends for 18-holes at the official golf course of the Green Bay Packers - the Thornberry Creek at Oneida. While playable for golfers of all levels, the Legends Championship Course can challenge the most proficient players, with more than 70 sand bunkers and 11 water hazards placed strategically throughout its 18 holes. The WPMA is happy to offer members significantly reduced rates of $25. Fee includes green fees, GPS cart and more. Non-members are welcome to join the outing for $75. Tee times every 10 minutes beginning at 11:00 a.m. Limited to the first 20 golfers

 

  • Welcome Reception and Opioid Education: The PACB has introduced a new rule, similar to the MEB, that requires 2 hours of the biennial continuing education hours be related to prescribing opioids. Special Agent Jeremiah Winscher from the Wisconsin Department of Justice will join us to present on the opioid abuse epidemic that is sweeping the nation, including how to spot drug-seeking behavior, reporting on others engaged in “pill mills”, youth addiction and more. 2 CMEs available.  Event set to begin at 5:00 p.m. at the Tavern in the Sky Restaurant at Lodge Kohler. Join us to learn how to protect you, your practice and your patients!

About Dr. Werd

   

Dr. Werd is “One of the Top 25 Most Influential Podiatrists in the United States”, among more than 16,500 podiatric physicians nationwide, as selected by Podiatry Management in 2012. Dr. Werd is a specialist in Sports Injuries of the Lower Extremity, and Reconstructive Surgery of the Foot, Ankle, and Leg. FUNCTIONAL FEET – MADE TO MOVE

Instructor - Stuart Currie, DC, PhD

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course introduces the concept of movement therapy via the combination of rehabilitation, conservative treatment, and foot orthotic intervention. Foot mobility and gait assessments will be explored along with foot strengthening exercises. First line of defense treatments including kinesio-taping with RockTape and myofascial release techniques are discussed. It includes a review of the current literature supporting the use of custom orthotics for rehabilitation of lower extremity injuries and muscle strengthening. Simple, practical solutions to help patients deal at home with common foot disorders are presented.

 

About Dr. Currie:                                                                              

 

Dr. Currie is a chiropractor and an engineer (PhD in bioengineering) with a focus on biomechanics and human movement. He is the owner of MojoFeet - a foot orthotic laboratory, performs research at the Human Dynamics Laboratory at the University of Denver, and maintains a clinical practice. His areas of expertise include spine, feet, and lower extremity biomechanics. He applies engineering concepts to the human body, combining his research and clinical knowledge with the goal of improving health by helping people move.
